Welcome to the February 2026 monthly newsletter from the Overeaters Anonymous Rainbow Specific Focus Service Board (OA Rainbow) the Service Body dedicated to supporting our LGBTQ+ members within Overeaters Anonymous. This newsletter will bring you news of what we are doing for the LGBTQ+ community in OA.

✨Service
Back in July 2025, our community spoke loudly and clearly — there was overwhelming support for OA Rainbow to continue, to stay visible, and to keep serving LGBTQ+ members who need a safe and affirming space within Overeaters Anonymous. That outpouring of love and commitment mattered, and now it’s time to turn that support into action. Service at the OA Rainbow Service Board isn’t just about filling positions; it’s about carrying the message, protecting a vital resource, and ensuring that no one feels alone in their recovery because of who they are. When we step into service, we honor the hope we expressed in July and help secure OA Rainbow’s future for those who are still searching for recovery, connection, and belonging. There are currently two open positions on the Board: Vice Chair and Secretary. Our committees could also use bodies. Feel moved to do service? Step 2 - Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Spiritual principle: Hope.
Tradition 2 - For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority—a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern. Spiritual principle: Trust.
Concept 2 - The OA groups have delegated to World Service Business Conference the active maintenance of our world services; thus, World Service Business Conference is the voice, authority and effective conscience of OA as a whole. Spiritual principle: Conscience.

✨ Media & Communication Committee -
SUNDAY, February 8th, 2026
We seek enthusiastic volunteers! If you enjoy storytelling, community outreach, or want to help OA Rainbow raise our profile, we’d love your help! Our Committee is in charge of (1) Content creation, (2) Social media, (3) Media relations, and (4) Event promotion. We’re looking for folks with strong writing and editing skills; familiarity with social media platforms; basic graphic design or layout skills. Folks who are reliable, collaborative, creative, and comfortable working in a volunteer team. Prior nonprofit experience, communications, journalism, marketing, or social media experience is a plus, but not required. We welcome learners! Time commitment: Monthly committee meeting (virtual) plus occasional subcommittee work.

✨Events Committee
We invite you to join OA Rainbow's Events Committee, a warm and welcoming service opportunity dedicated to strengthening connection and deepening recovery within our fellowship. Our committee will be organizing inspiring speaker meetings, meaningful workshops, and other recovery-focused events that bring members together in unity, support, and shared experience. In particular, we will be hosting a Newcomer's Open House during the Virtual Region Convention on February 21, 1:00pm Eastern Time. In order to make these happen, we need more members of the Events Committee to give service at the events themselves. Come be part of a team that makes a difference—one event, one connection, and one day at a time.

If you are part of an LGBTQ+ OA group, please consider passing along part of your Seventh Tradition to help fund OA Rainbow's activities. For example, we would like to send our WSBC Delegate to Albuquerque, New Mexico to represent us at the World Service Business Conference next May. MISSION STATEMENT
The Rainbow carries the message of recovery to those who identify as
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender
and have issues with compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors
by fostering the practice of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions
of Overeaters Anonymous, as guided by the Twelve Concepts of OA Service.
The Rainbow is here to serve and represent individuals, member groups, intergroups, national service boards, language service boards and regions.
